Tense community meeting with Alberta energy regulator

The Kearl tailings pond spill began in May 2022 in northern Alberta, however nearby Indigenous communities were not told about the spill for nine months. On Tuesday evening the Alberta energy regulator showed up to a meeting in Fort Chipewyan. The purpose was to answer questions about Imperial Oil's Kearl mine site. Our Edmonton online reporter Danielle Paradis was at that meeting.
