Mi’kmaw chiefs turns down offer from DFO, saying it threatens treaty rights

Mi’kmaw chiefs in Nova Scotia turned down an offer from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, saying it is a direct threat to treaty rights. The offer was to take part in a project that would increase access all fisheries over the next three years.
