Winnipeg police search North End home in connection with missing man

Winnipeg police were searching a residential property in the north end of the city Wednesday as part of their investigation into the disappearance of Cody Harper.

Harper, 28, was last seen in Winnipeg on October 2021 and reported missing the following month.

At the time, police said they were concerned for his well-being.

Const. Claude Chancy said the search for evidence was taking place at a home in the 200-block of Selkirk Avenue after police secured a warrant.

Children were seen in the window of the house that was blocked off with police tape behind Chancy as he spoke to reporters from across the street.

“The work that’s being done by our investigators is ongoing and every step is important,” he said, noting the missing persons unit was working with the forensic services unit.

“Missing persons investigations, they’re multifaceted… every bit of information, every tip is followed up.”

He wanted to inform the public why there were so many police vehicles parked on the street.

“We do want to assure the public that there are no concerns for their own personal safety,” he told the news conference Wednesday.
