Gossip, bullying, shaming and blaming are only a few examples of what’s being called “lateral violence”.
Some believe the effect is a result of the residential school experience. Although it is a relatively new terminology, many believe that lateral violence runs rampant in Indigenous communities.
Now, a small group of youth in the Yukon are hoping to change lateral violence to lateral kindness.
