Decades ago Shoal Lake #40 got cut off from the world because of water needs in Winnipeg.
But after a major lobbying campaign that focused on the sacrifice the people there made so others could have fresh drinking water – Ontario, Manitoba and Canada agreed to split the cost of a road reconnecting the community.
That new road isn’t open yet – but you wouldn’t know it by the way people in Shoal Lake are talking.
That’s just greeaat…. when will they have drinking water? When will other reserves have drinking water? When will other very basic needs be met ffs?!
