Shoal Lake 40 is another step closer to being hooked up to the outside world

 

Decades ago Shoal Lake #40 got cut off from the world because of water needs in Winnipeg.

But after a major lobbying campaign that focused on the sacrifice the people there made so others could have fresh drinking water – Ontario, Manitoba and Canada agreed to split the cost of a road reconnecting the community.

That new road isn’t open yet – but you wouldn’t know it by the way people in Shoal Lake are talking.
