Saskatchewan RCMP say they are searching on Muskeg Lake Cree Nation in connection with the 2019 homicide of Joanne Wolfe-Lafond.

We “would like to advise the public of an increased police presence…” the RCMP’s historical case unit (HCU) said in a release Tuesday.

“Police will be in the area over the next couple of days.”

Wolfe-Lafond’s body was found outside her home in the community 93 km north of Saskatoon on Jan. 13, 2o19. The initial investigation determined her death to be suspicious, police said.

HCU thanked people for volunteering information to help the investigation move forward.

“Significant advancements in these types of investigations would not be possible without the help of witnesses and community members coming forward,” Cpl. Tanya Gordon said in the release.

Wolfe-Lafond, 56, was married with two children and numerous grandchildren, according to her obituary.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatchewan RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
