The province of Saskatchewan signed a memorandum of understanding with the newly created First Nations Power Authority.
The agreement will help any of Saskatchewan’s 74 First Nations sell their electricity to the province.
At least one First Nation is already working on developing a wind-farm. The new agreement gives them a potential buyer for any energy they produce.
Saskatchewan desperately needs more power. Demand is expected to increase by 2.4 per cent a year over the next decade.
