There is a new development to report tonight in the police shooting death of John Simon.
In 2008, the man from Wagmatcook First Nation in Nova Scotia was shot and killed by an RCMP officer.
RCMP officers had responded to reports that Simon was at home, drunk, suicidal and armed.
Initial investigations cleared the RCMP.
But later the RCMP’s Public Complaints Commissioner blamed errors in judgement and decision making for the tragedy.
Simon’s widow Patsy McKay spent years trying to get answers for the shooting death.
Details of the cash settlement have not been made public.
