Police make arrests in slaying of Ashley Murdock in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say they have arrested three people in connection with the homicide of Ashley Isabella Murdock, 28, and are seeking a fourth.

The body of the Cree woman and mother of three was found earlier this month in a downtown apartment just two days after she was reported missing on July 3.

“Ashley will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her laughter,” said her obituary at eternalgracefunerals.com. “Ashley loved to tell jokes and make others laugh, she was outgoing and truly cared about those around her.”

Police say they charged a 32-year-old woman with second-degree murder and two men, aged 28 and 38, with each being an accessory to murder.

All three are in custody, police added in a news release Friday.

The body of Murdock, a member of Fisher River and Jackhead Cree Nation who was born and lived in Winnipeg, was found at an apartment in the 300 block of Kennedy Street.

“Investigators in the Missing Person Unit worked with family and community members to establish Ashley’s last point of contact/communication was on June 26,” the release said.

“Investigators believe that although the deceased was discovered in the 300 block of Kennedy, she had previously been moved from another location while already deceased.”

Police say they are seeking Devon Charlie Colomb, 26, as the fourth alleged accessory in connection with the homicide.

Police warn the public not to approach Colomb if spotted and call them immediately instead.
