Stewart was found behind a small apartment building on Alice Street in the Vanier suburb of Ottawa. She was spotted in the early morning hours of Aug. 20 by a woman walking her dog. She was left in a gravel parking lot which has since been paved over.
She was stabbed to death.
Stewart fought addictions she tried to keep from her some members of her family.
A mother, Stewart was Cree from northern Quebec.
The First Nation side of her family asked for privacy but said Stewart should be remembered as a loving mother.
It doesnt matter what drugs she used or how she lived, she had a right to life that was stolen from her. My sympathies to her family and prayers for justice.
