Police have charged Robin Wortman with allegedly drugging and sexually abusing a 17-year-old boy who came forward in January.
Wortman is Metis from northern Alberta and a fixture in the Aboriginal community as well as a volunteer for the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
The boy has been receiving support from the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre.
Meanwhile, Wortman was removed from the homeless foundation’s board of directors.
“Our chairman of the board immediately held an emergency meeting where the decision was made to remove Mr. Wortman as a board member immediately,” said Diana Krecsy, CEO of the foundation.
Wortman is scheduled to appear in court Mar. 15.
