The Innu people in Labrador have a new agreement with the provincial and federal governments.
It’s worth $100 million over the next 30 years.
The money is compensation for flooding caused by the construction of the Upper Churchill hydro project in the 1960s.
The deal also promises a five per cent share of profits from the proposed Lower Churchill hydro project.
Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Peter Penashue is also the MP for Labrador.
He spoke to APTN National News about the agreement.
