An agreement to support and improve the academic success of First Nation students in Quebec was signed in the Abernaki First Nation of Odanak Friday.
Highlights of the agreement include improved cooperation between First Nations and Quebec’s education system.
It also includes measures that will take into account the linguistic diversity of First Nations students.
The agreement will benefit more than 3,000 students in 10 communities.
Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan says other communities will be able to join the agreement later if they wish.
