OPP request extradition of man in Texas for abuse in Sioux Lookout

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they have requested an extradition order for a man in Texas for the abuse of several boys at a number of boarding homes in Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they have requested an extradition order for a man in Texas for the abuse of several boys at a number of boarding homes in Sioux Lookout, Ont.

Jack Wicksey, 65, of Los Fresno, Texas, has been charged with nine counts of sexual assault of boys under the age of 16, and nine counts of sexual exploitation according to an OPP release sent out Friday.

The release says the charges come as a result of an investigation of allegations of historical sexual abuse in Sioux Lookout between 1989 and 1991. OPP said seven adult males came forward with the allegations.

Wicksey was arrested in Texas earlier this month by U.S. Marshalls.

According to the Brownsville Herald, Wicksey appeared before a judge on June 12, 2018, for an extradition hearing.

Wicksey worked as a house councillor for the Pelican Falls Centre boarding program.
