Ontario tobacco companies prepare for $1.5 billion lawsuit

Rothmans Inc., Imperial Tobacco Canada Ltd., Benson and Hedges Inc., and JTI-MacDonald Corp., among others, are serving First Nations tobacco companies with a $1.5 billion dollar lawsuit.

They say they are “seeking recovery of the cost of provincial health care expenditures arising from tobacco related disease and/or the risk of tobacco related disease.”
