Today is the last day candidates in the upcoming Northwest Territories election can throw their hats into the ring.
With less than one month before voters take to the poll, candidates for MLA aren’t wasting any time.
The writ was officially dropped Monday and both incumbent MLAs and new hopefuls are busy getting a head start on campaigning.
There are a total 19 electoral districts throughout the Northwest Territories. And candidates can only spend up to $30,000 on their bids for election.
Expect the NWT’s controversial devolution deal with Ottawa to become a hot topic as the election draws closer.
Many are still displeased with the government’s decision to move forward with the process, without the support of all First Nations.
