The massive Baffinland iron ore mine in Nunavut is one step closer to being a reality.
The project, which includes a railway to transport the ore, needed federal approval and got it Monday.
Now that Aboriginal Affairs has signed off, the next state is for the project to clear the certificate phase though the Nunavut Impact Review Board.
It’s not expected to be a problem.
The proposed open pit, 160 Km south of Pond Inlet, is expected to have a lifespan of 21 years.
