Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada has confirmed that they are preparing “final offers” for an undisclosed number of specific claims negotiations with First Nation communities across Canada.
Professionals in the claims community are calling them “take-it-or-leave-it” offers, and saying that the federal government is now refusing to accept input on what should be in those offers.
Linda Duncan is the Aboriginal Affairs critic for the NDP, and she joins anchor Michael Hutchinson from Ottawa to discuss the reports.
