The mother of Kinew James is shocked and appalled by what a nurse said about her daughter as she laid in medical distress at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in 2013.
The male nurse, Stacey Ryma, admitted that performing CPR on the obese James was similar to that of performing CPR on a waterbed.
James was a federal inmate in Saskatoon, when she died of an apparent heart attack.
“I want an apology from Stacey Ryma” said Grace Campbell, outside the inquest at Saskatoon’s Court of Queens Bench. “That was really inappropriate… I was shaking. I’m still shaking.”
Kinew died of an apparent heart attack at the centre in 2013.
The inquest looking into her death is expected to last another week, with testimony expected from a total of 19 people.
