The province of Manitoba and the federal government have agreed to a $90 settlement with four First Nation communities affected by the massive 2011 flood.

Because it was your government who made the decision to flood those reservation and no only ones who should get anything is those who lived on the reservation at the time of the flood and I know for fact four idiots collecting red Cross yet they didn’t live out there they own their houses here hell red Cross is paying Roseanne beardy/stagg morgage on her house here in Winnipeg on Shannon bay red Cross was told on more then one occasion of they fraudsters but guess that how the cookie crumble
why should taxpayer money used to pay for these people.
Assimilation and isolation are Indian Affairs mandates even in 2017
I agree strongly with Mary and Don, the monies should go to the ones affected by the flood whom lost their livelihood due to the flooding, I don’t see why anyone else should benefit from their pain and anguish
Thank you Mary.
Your comment and attitude are exactly what the majority of Canadians would support.
Certainly those people whose homes were destroyed or damaged or whose livelihood was impacted are deserving of government assistance to repair damages and replace those things that were lost due to the floodjust the same as any other person who was impacted by a flood or other natural disaster. Insurance can help replace some things, but government assistance should be expected to help with other things – especially people’s health concerns.
Those people who live off reserve and whose lives were not affected by the flood should not be asking for funds just because they are a member of a band affected by the flood. This diminishes not only the amount available to legitimate victims of the flood, but also reinforces the stereotype of indigenous people always looking for a “free lunch”.
But the off reserve people should benefit from it to not just on reserve people.
Why should us who live off Reserve be entitled to anything.
If you did not live on any of the 4 communities you deserve nothing. I have not asked for anything from my reserve since I moved more than 20 years ago. Learn to be independent and not rely on reserve help or govt help.
Why they never lost anything the Aboriginal people that lived on reserve are the ones that should be eligible
Carrie explain why you feel off reserve peoples should be compensated please? I want to understand your position.
