Charlotte Morrit-JacobsAPTN NewsPeople in Yellowknife celebrated Wednesday as the federal government cannabis legislation kicked in and pot is no longer illegal.Crowds of eager cannabis enthusiasts were out in force in the capital of the Northwest Territories.“I have been a local cannabis activist for eight or nine years now so this is the climax of all of that work,” said Kim McNeary.“Of so many people across the country and here we are like five minutes before the opening of the store. I am so excited although I’m second in line.”Justin Melville was the first in line. He got into line early this morning.“Yeah it was dark and cold,” he said.Five stores are licensed to sell pot in the NWT.
