APTN National News
APTN National News’ weekly InFocus panel discusses Former Roseau River chief and AFN national chief candidate Terry Nelson’s trip to Iran.
Nelson was accompanied by another former chief, Dennis Pashe, from the Dakota Tipi First Nation in Manitoba.
The duo arrived in Iran late last week to talk to the Iranian government about Indigenous peoples in Canada.
This week, the panel includes Teyotsihstokwaithe Dakota Brant, a UBC Master’s candidate, Trevor Greyeyes, a freelance journalist, and Daniel T’seleie, who is studying law at the University of Victoria.
In a underhanded way it may help for future discussions
Most of what he said never gets out to the rest of Canada
My self I still remain A concrete Indian because of the
Indian Act too many restrictions imposed on the native populations
but I will always speak my mind to defend the misconceptions
about Native in general. We as natives with the Metis have fought
long & hard to put things right. I was taught that we all are brothers
from other mothers & sisters from other misters. Raping the land
for the glut of the world is wrong it is 2012 there are other options
out there for natives & the whole country to explore & advance
A whole new green market sun water wind it is provided for
bye our Mother Earth it is all we have 1 earth.
Love people
Hoping we can all work together to make things better in the here and now! Lets all put the past to rest and start a new future together! Also lets get the government on board and make them understand a new program needs to be put in place on the reserves. I think the public is a bit in the dark about all this! Maybe Nelson has help already by going to the lengths he did. It made me more aware already! Really it can only help that is what I believe – just a nobody white canadian with some ideas. We should all be proud of who we are and where we come from… Canada
