Idle No More showed up at a meeting outside of Halifax Thursday.
It was to protest what was happening inside where chiefs from across Atlantic Canada gathered.
Shelley Young wanted a seat too.
You may remember Young, she just recently ended a hunger strike.
APTN National News reporter Tim Fontaine was there.
Shelley and and other member of any band represented in that meeting has every right to attend. What are the chiefs hiding that they wouldn’t allow them in? The chiefs should be the ones showing respect…
there is nothing wrong with having a
person lisen to debate of fate or faith.
I agree! Respect goes both ways. Chiefs need to start respecting the people who elect them in. What they’re doing isn’t working! It’s time for change!
Didn’t look like Idle No More to me. Looked like a bunch of radicals trying to storm into a meeting they weren’t invited to, nor did they ask to be on the agenda. So the media was called in to make who look bad?
Get over yourself Shelley Young! Leave the chiefs alone. You can’t just show up and expect to be heard. Have some respect.
Our people deserve nothing less than the truth. Our chiefs are suppose to be accountable to our community members. We elect them in to work for us, not the other way around.
Our people deserve to know nothing less than the truth. We elect our chiefs in to work for us, not the other way around. Respect should go both ways.

Idle no more is meant to assist with first nations’ causes, but re they meant to rule them?
