About 50 members of the Mi’kmaw community in Halifax walked the streets Tuesday to raise awareness for Indigenous women missing in Atlantic Canada.
They agree that Mi’kmaw women who go missing are often forgotten.
“I wish that things would be more serious, I wish that we wouldn’t be in the backside,” says Bridget Stevens. “There’s a reason why we are the highest rate of missing and murdered because of how slow the police and everybody is for us to get, to be told that we are missing.”
