Group calls for tougher safety inspections for rooming houses after Indigenous woman dies in fire

A tiny apartment in a crowded rooming house: it’s sometimes the only home a person can afford.

Now, after a blaze in a Winnipeg rooming house killed two people, there are demands that the houses and their owners face tougher safety inspections.
