More than a thousand Elders from across Canada are in Edmonton to discuss health, wellness, children and families – and climate change.
“I’ve attended the climate change session and that is something else,” says Elder Ethel Straker from Berens River First Nation in Manitoba. “The other one was truth and reconciliation and that is another emotional one. It’s so hard listening to people, like their experiences … and how it affected us.”
There were also sessions on language and culture.
