A special memorial was held over the weekend on Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan.
The community recently announced that ground penetrating radar had located 751 unmarked graves in the cemetery on the site of the old school.
It comes less than a month after Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Nation announced that a preliminary report confirmed the existence of 215 graves at the site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School.
The chief of Cowessess says the community is treating the site of Marieval as a crime scene and will work to identify everyone in the unmarked graves.
