Community of Kahkewistahaw in Saskatchewan fixes water system, now everyone wants a sip

Leadership on a southern Saskatchewan First Nation grew so frustrated with a 15 year boil water advisory, they took it upon themselves to do something about it without the help of Indigenous Affairs.

Now their water is in demand from neighbouring communities.

Kudos to them for taking initiative & getting this done. Maybe this is the beginning of something new, & who knows, others will follow their leadership to achieve success. With any luck, maybe it will encourage proper funding from sources who’ve previously been duds. Good Luck!

  2. Congratulations to the Chief and Council for their initiative to bring healthy water to their members. It is good for other Leaders to see that there are choices.

  3. Great initiative. Glad to see people taking things into their own hands when the government and councils fail them. Water is a necessity and should not be ignored of that long. If this other communities want that water now they should help pay for it. I would also ask for an inquiry in to indigenous affairs and find out why it was taking so long when it is obvious that these people got er done.
