It’s been 20 years since the former owners abandoned the Faro zinc-lead mine site after filing for bankruptcy.
The mine operated from 1969 to 1998.
It was once the largest open pit mine of its kind in the world and is roughly the size of Victoria, B.C.
Today the site is one of the most complex remediation projects in Canada.
