  1. Adrienne says:

Where can I take part in a blanket exercise?

    1. Thanks for the question. There are leaders in place to help you find a Blanket Exercise near you. The contact information on the internet says toll free 1-877-403-8933 or 61-235-9956.

  2. Thank you to all the people who took time out of their life’s to do the blanket exercise. On June 21, why don’t we put the number of years First Nation people have lived here,On Canada day, they are celebrating 150 years of killing our life style and take over of the land.

  3. Blankets to Indigenous peoples (my/our people) also has a another symbolic meaning than reminders of colonialism. That meaning is wholistic protection, mind, body, spiritual and emotional protection as we walk into the future from the dark and horrific shadows of colonialism. In a blanket ceremony we cover our children, Elders, leaders, and all our relations who understand our plight and struggles and walk with us in support. The blanket is also use as symbol of recognition for dedication, someone who has dedicated their cultural knowledge and skills for the betterment of our people, politically, economically, social and spiritually. Last but not least, our Mother the Earth covers all creation with a blanket of snow during the winter months.
