The native peoples of Canada lived and preserved the land for centuries until the “Dale” ancestors “occupied” and totally trashed the land and environment for corporate greed. Best advice to Dale would be to investigate the part his ancestors played in the current devastation being played out in Canada. History is painful, but survival and preservation of the land should be perceived as paramount, especially for the children and grandchildren of people like Dale.
