Akwesasne Mohawk territory is a unique place for many reasons. Here the borders of Ontario, Quebec and New York State intersect.
Crossing an international border is a daily fact of life and being able to do so without minimal hindrance is a treaty right.
According to many Akwesasne residents, however, harassment and delays at the border are increasing. On Friday, the Mohawk Nation Longhouse staged a protest and over 200 people crossed the frontier to deliver a message to the Canada Border Services Agency.
