An estimated 20,000 children were removed from their homes during a period of time in Canada now known as the Sixties Scoop.
What usually happened was First Nation, Métis and Inuit children were taken from their homes and adopted out to non-Indigenous families across Turtle Island.
Many struggled to not only find themselves but their families.
Ryan Tamburi was a 60’s scoop child.
He started looking for his family a long time ago – but recently caught a break when he posted this message on a Facebook page.
“I’m like sorry if this isn’t you, sorry for wasting your time. I’m looking through his pictures and I say but look at our pictures we look like twins we look pretty damn close. It’s a pretty big coincidence.”
It was no coincidence.
