Morley Googoo has been removed as the Assembly of First Nations’ regional chief for Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
Mi’kmaq Chiefs from the region made the announcement Friday afternoon following a special meeting. Googoo was serving a suspension with pay while under AFN investigation.
“At this special meeting, it was collectively decided to remove Mr. Googoo as the regional chief at the AFN,” the chiefs said in a news release.
“The chiefs will not be commenting further or providing particulars at this time.”
The chiefs said they continue to support the AFN investigation.
