A Winnipeg man has a big reputation for having a big heart – and his latest act is helping prove his case.
Known around the community as a volunteer, Brandon Murdock who is originally from the Fisher River Cree Nation, he recently won the Shaw Communications Outstanding Canadian award for the work he does.
“With all my work that I been doing in the community. that’s doing basketball clinics for youths, just volunteering in my community, coming back to the program, I started volunteering at a program I graduated at, CEDA Pathways,” Murdock told APTN. “And I became a full-time employee there where I am an academic facilitator and I help kids graduate high school from grades nine to twelve in the north end.”
