A day after election, Bennett addresses accusation of interfering with process

Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett’s visit to the Alberta caucus at the Assembly of First Nations election gathering in Vancouver almost brought the process to a halt.

Candidates Russ Diabo, Sheila North, and Miles Richardson stood on the main stage and demanded that something be done to fix what they saw as interference in the electoral process by the federal government.

The AFN’s election monitor refused to get involved – and Perry Bellegarde went on to capture his second term as national chief.

On Thursday, Bennett addressed the assembly and the accusations.

  1. Rodney Little Mustache says:

Alberta Chiefs and Miss Bennett’s office should release the minutes of the meeting. There should be minutes as they are elected officials. Without full disclosure they should be asked to resign.

This kind of behavior is being investigated in the U.S. and look what it is doing to that country.

The liberals are using what their ancestors have been taught through the ages – divide and conquer.

We must use extreme caution. This framework agreement is important. We must decide what this framework is to look like. We must define every word and term. Please be advised that we must stay away from the old treaty language. The Old Treaty Language must be reserved for The Old Treaties. We must not allow a new agreement to revise or amend The Old Treaties, in anyway, shape, or form. Besides those old treaties weren’t made for us anyway. The Treaties were made for them. And just like the old treaties which they wanted for themselves they want this too.
The Queen broke treaty, in 1982. The Queen turned her back on us, and tied her hands behind her back. The Queen broke treaty. The Crown split. There is no Crown in Canada. There are no agents of The Crown. The Department of Indian Affairs is not an agent of The Crown and they haven’t been for quite sometime. In many statutes and especially in The Indian Act, only The Crown or Agents of The Crown identified by document and insignia can make or negotiate treaties. The Department is an imposter, right now. Under The Indian Act they have given up Treaty making authority. There is only one living embodiment of the Crown, which is Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth I I. The Crown is a yellow hat that adorns the head, from time to time , of The King/Queen, who sits on The Thrown of Great Britain.
It is kind of fun to think that The Indian Act which they created to take all our land and power in the end is the very Act which takes their power and restores the land to us. Ask yourself could it really be that simple? Well it is very elementary usually because after all is is Governmental Affairs.
