$20K art prize up for grabs in Yukon

A prize ceremony celebrating Yukon’s unique and diverse art scene kicks off this weekend.

This year six artists are short-listed for the biannual Yukon Prize, a $20,000 award intended to help the winner focus on art full-time. The five other finalists will receive $3,000.

The award is privately sponsored by Julie Jai and David Trick, the Yukon Arts Foundation, the Yukon Arts Centre, and volunteers.

On Sept. 14, short-listed artists presented their work at an opening show at the Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse. This year’s winner will be announced Sept. 16 at a gala event.
