In 1885, after the defeat of Louis Riel and the Métis in Batoche, Saskatchewan, the bell that rang in the local church was stolen as a war trophy.

In 1885, after the defeat of Louis Riel and the Metis in Batoche, Saskatchewan, the bell that rang in the local church was stolen as a war trophy. Canadian soldiers took it back to Millbrook, Ontario, where it stayed until 1991. Then one night the Bell of Batoche was stolen from the Millbrook Legion. All kinds of rumours have swirled since then as to where it is and who has it.
