People living in Burns Lake, B.C. are desperate to protect their village from approaching wildfires.
One crew from Alberta came to put out the fires.
But as Laurie Hamelin reports, they couldn’t help – and now the community is on its own.

on the other side of lake we have ulkatcho ppl in the same shoes , not sure what they are thinking all the resources are burning, all the wildlife habitats, the people how lives out there are affected the most. if we let this fire consume all our forest. .we will have no identity as hunter and gathers for years to come ,no trail to follow ,most of all the water will go next, then how do we fight fire.
From other comments by Safeguard, it seems that although one water source was assessed as inadequate, they only checked one part of the fire area and believe that their pumps could be used in others. For some reason the province was not willing to use their equipment in those areas.
