There is a famous line in the poem The Cremation of Sam McGee that goes, ‘there are strange things done under a midnight sun …” expression, there are strange things done under the midnight sun was written n the Yukon.
The poem by Robert Service was published in 1907 – and the sentiment behind that line still holds true today.
Just walk into a certain Whitehorse saloon where a strange drinking tool had been stolen – and left everyone in a lurch.
But now it’s back.
“You drink it slow but the toe has to touch your lips,” said Adam Gerle.
That’s right – a toe.
The headline should read Dawson City rather than Whitehorse.
