Does nobody find it absurd that Le Loutre’s War, the Dartmouth sawmill massacre, nor the 40 year French bounty on English scalps that the Mi’kmaq of the time were only too eager to fulfill never gets mentioned in these stories? Can somebody from the Mi’kmaq community explain to me why the shared atrocities of what was an overwhelmingly Hobbesian world (i.e. short, nasty, brute, etc.) for all involved should fall squarely on the shoulders of this one man’s historical memory?
