Thunder Bay police say they have arrested an 18-year-old male for allegedly throwing a trailer hitch, from a moving car, at an Indigenous woman.
“I didn’t expect it to come like that. It came real hard and fast and it was heavy,” said Barbara Kentner describing the violent act recently on a Thunder Bay street.
Kentner said the hitch hit her in the stomach and the attack left her terrified to go anywhere.
A solidarity walk was organized to help bring awareness to violence against women. Close to 200 community members showed up.
Kentner was not planning to attend the walk out of fear for her safety until detectives told her they made an arrest.
“Hopefully they get what they deserve … ’cause I didn’t deserve it. That’s not right what happened to me, it’s not right for anything to happen like that to anybody,” said Kentner.
Brayden Bushby has been charged with aggravated assault.
That’s all he got charged with? This was a hate crime!
