The OPP said Tuesday forensic tests have determined a bone found June 2 in Mishkeegogamang Ojibway First Nation belongs to a 26-year-old woman reported missing on Nov. 8, 2015.
The OPP said the Sioux Lookout detachment continues to lead the investigation into the disappearance of Charnelle Masakeyash, 26, who was last seen on Hwy 599 south of Pickle Lake, Ont., on Nov. 6, 2015.
The OPP said in a statement a member of the public located Masakeyash’s bone in Mishkeegogamang and brought it to the OPP.
The bone was examined at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto which confirmed it belonged to Masakeyash, the statement said.
Mishkeegogamang First Nation sits about 500 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
