An elder in Ontario is raising concerns about the health of a Cree woman who has spent the better part of two years in solitary confinement.
The woman, Marlene Carter from Onion Lake, Saskatchewan, spent the time in a federal penetentiary but is currently in a mental health hospital in Brockville, an hour outside Ottawa.
The elder says that Carter, who has serious mental health issues, has needs that should be addressed by community support programs.
