The Shoal Lake 44 First Nation will be taking its case to the United Nations.
A delegation from the community is expected to travel to Geneva, Switzerland, next February.
The community has been cut-off from the mainland for 100 years and has been under a boil water advisory for nearly two decades.
It seems public support to build a so-called “Freedom Road” for the community is finally taking hold and it’s now part of the federal election campaign.
