One of the ugliest incidents in modern Mohawk history occurred 25 years ago.
It was during the Oka crisis when a convoy of about 70 vehicles carrying mostly women, elders and children left Kahnawake.
They were seeking refuge from the approaching Canadian Army and the looming end of the Oka crisis.
But, instead, they drove into an ambush when vehicles hundreds of people hurled rocks at them.
APTN’s Tom Fennario has the story told by the people who were there.
