A mining company has set up camp to explore the James Bay area known as the ‘Ring of Fire.’
A First Nation is in the area too to protest against what they see as encroachment on their traditional territory.
APTN National News reporter Donna Smith was there and tells this story.
The First Nation that sits next door on the Diamond mine are on the verge of third party management. Obviously they didn’t benefit from the Mine, one always predicts that this First Nation would be one of the richest community in the north just because they are sitting on diamonds but not even close……It breaks my heart when I think about it.
