Competitors give it their all at Alberta Indigenous Games

The hot sun didn’t stop these young athletes from giving everything they had to take home a medal from the Alberta Indigenous Games.

Wednesday was the second day of competition in basketball, lacrosse, soccer, archery, ball hockey and track and field.

Track director Robyn Webster was impressed by the variety of competitors.

“Some of them, it’s their first time doing track and field,” she said. “Some of them have been doing track and field before in their schools or in their community a little bit. So we are seeing quite a variety.

“A lot of them are doing other sports as part of the games as well. We had a lot double with canoe, kayak, golf and archery.”

The Games are taking place at Rundle Park in Edmonton until Aug. 18.
