More sex-related charges have been laid against a 60-year-old man who police say was working as “a traditional healer or medicine man” in three Saskatchewan First Nations and the city of Saskatoon.
Cecil Wolfe has been charged with six additional counts of sexual assault after Saskatoon police announced in September they had charged him with one count of sexual assault.
He now faces seven charges.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
The six new charges, announced Tuesday, involve one from Saskatoon and five more from Loon Lake and Muskeg Lake Cree Nation.
Twenty years
“Investigators believe there may be additional victims from over the past twenty years in the communities of Loon Lake, Blaine Lake, Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatoon and surrounding areas,” the RCMP said in a news release.
“The investigation remains active and [alleged] victims are encouraged to contact their nearest RCMP Detachment or Police Service if they have information to share.”
Investigators are concerned there may be other victims and encourage anyone with information to contact their local police.
Wolfe was first in court in September facing one count when he was released on bail, the release said.
He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial court on Jan. 17, 2022.
