Program that teaches movies stunts launches in Vancouver

From being blown up to racing cars, action scenes and combat fighting – a weekend workshop called the Indigenous Action Artist Mentorship program is all about teaching up and coming stunt performers what it takes to get into showbiz.

While being a stunt double is dangerous, coordinator Bruce Crawford says it’s also a very rewarding career and it needs more Indigenous representation.

“Well we really feel there is a need for Aboriginal or Indigenous representation in front and behind the camera, we need a lot more of it,” he says. “There is a real need particularly in the stunt industry to build an Indigenous talent pool that we can draw from.”
